Overview
Natural gas and electricity are a significant cost element in any operation. Today’s volatile energy markets increase risk and uncertainty in your energy procurement, and effectively managing energy costs to meet your company’s goals and guidelines is critical to sustainable and successful operations. Sinopa provides expert energy supply and transportation management services to assist clients in developing and implementing specific energy solutions and strategies.
Sinopa provides focused, expert, and comprehensive energy supply and transportation management services to clients nationwide. Sinopa is not an energy marketer or broker, but works as an integral member of our client’s energy management/procurement team. Working directly for clients allows us to unequivocally pursue client goals without conflicts-of-interest typically confronting energy marketers and brokers. This approach provides clients the tools to develop comprehensive energy management solutions to achieve specific goals. Sinopa also pursues aggregation value for clients where possible; both within a client’s multi-plant system and by aggregating multiple client requirements.
Our energy supply and transportation management services are customized to meet your needs. Typically, Sinopa accomplishes energy management goals by developing and maintaining client access to competitive markets. We scrutinize every component of delivered energy cost (natural gas supply, electricity supply, interprovincial or interstate pipeline and transmission capacity, and distribution transportation) and ensure our clients capture all market opportunities. Sinopa’s specific energy supply and transportation management services include:
- Supply Management: Solicit and evaluate energy supply proposals and provide energy supply contract recommendations. Coordinate, negotiate, and administer energy supply contracts. Develop unbundled benchmark pricing to evaluate bundled supply proposals. Assist with price risk management (hedging) and budgeting.
- Transportation Management: Negotiate and administer energy transportation agreements with interprovincial or interstate and local utility companies. We routinely capture reduced capacity rates and maximize demand charge recovery in transmission capacity release markets for clients.
- Invoice Management/Contract Administration: Audit and reconcile all invoices prior to client payment. Correct invoicing errors with vendors and ensure correct client payments. Maintain contract files and accurately administer contracts.
- Analyses, Reporting, and Information Services: Provide analytical support (analyses, reports, pricing/usage analyses, budget forecasts, etc.) and information services (pricing data, contract files, industry publications, on-line services). Monitor provincial, state and federal regulatory activity, and maintain applicable tariff expertise.
