Overview
Many years ago, when power was a new commodity, powerlines were considered positive elements in the landscape. They provided status to those who were lucky or wealthy enough to get it – the aesthetics were not discussed.
This proposal is based on the perceptions of a power line, the signals it sends to the environment, to users, viewers and passersby.
We have studied many different transmission lines and power pylons in order to reach an understanding of the technical design parameters. The assignment for us was to create a new image of a power pylon which sends the signal that transporting electricity is a clean technology.
